Scientific Games lay the groundwork for an enhanced US sportsbook offering
It is by no means a secret that the State of New Jersey is leading the way in the United States of America when it comes to the regulation of gambling from casinos to more recently sports betting. As such, Scientific Games Digital, the Nevada based gambling service provider which is part of Scientific Games Corporation, a NASDAQ listed company which boasts a yearly revenue of over $3b a year, is already taking full advantage of the opportunity to be the main source for sports betting in the US with the acquisition of OpenBet in January this year, which was part of the NYX Gaming Group Limited.
This latest acquisition doesn’t come as a major surprise for those who already know of the growing betting industry in the US seeing as Scientific Games believes in hidden demand for sports betting for years to come. Matt Davey, who used to be the former head of the NYX Gaming Group and is now the CEO of SG Digital, commented earlier this year that SG Digital wants to “ensure its ambitious partners are ready to launch their sportsbook offering”. He added that “SG Digital has a strong presence in New Jersey with our Open Platform System (OPS) already certified in the state; our knowledge of the market will play an important part in preparing OpenBet for the marketplace.” SG is aiming to work closely with the NJ State and Davey acknowledged that “the state of New Jersey is taking progressive action to help create a safer sports betting market for the public. We are setting the foundations well in advance to help our partners establish themselves early in the emerging territory.”
